Light ceramics wares are created using a range of pottery techniques including wheel throwing, slip casting, and hand building. Colourful underglazes are used to achieve the vibrant palettes featured in the wares, and patterns inspired by nature are etched into the clay. The name light itself pays homage to the inextricable relationship between light and colour. There is no colour without light; the hues we perceive in objects are determined by the specific light frequencies they reflect and those they absorb. The alternating use of white and black clay in each collection is a tribute to the importance of light and its absence in colour production.
